John Paul the Great Catholic University Rotaract Club

jpg rotaractAfter several months of meetings, negotiations and planning the Rotary Club of Escondido has successfully formed a Rotaract Club with John Paul the Great Catholic University whose campus is located at 155 Grand Avenue, next door to us. Rotaract clubs are organized for communities at large or university based with an age range of 18 to 30.

John Paul the Great Catholic University (nicknamed “JPCatholic) offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Communications Media and Business, each with several concentrations offered, a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Film Producing, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Theology. JPCatholic was founded in 2003 and moved to Escondido in 2013 occupying the former Penney’s and Mingei Museum building. This year the University purchased the long-vacant H. Johnson furniture store with the intent to renovate the space to house a huge sound stage, library and an auditorium. The old independent study facility at 3rd Street and Maple, formerly owned by the EUHSD, was also purchased the the University. Students live “on campus” at the latitude 33 apartment complex near the campus.

JPCatholic’s media programs provide a focus on applied learning, with an effort to create opportunities for students to achieve experience with real-world projects. JPCatholic is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission.

Thanks to JP Catholic Professor Kevin Culbertson, now a Escondido Rotarian, Ron Smith, Ken Myers, Bonnie Maloney and Rob Klein for their support and efforts to form the JPCatholic Rotaract Club. We are looking forward to many years of cooperation and partnership with the Rotaract Club at JPCatholic. Please welcome Rotaract students from JPCatholic as they attend our Rotary meetings.
