Chuck Aeling presented a $500 check to our Cub Scouts Pack, and a $1500 check to Boy Scouts Troop 649, which Escondido Rotary has sponsored since 1937.  Pat Archer accepted the grant and explained that the funds would be used to send boys to summer camp who could not otherwise afford to go.

Mike Freet presented a $1000 grant to Palomar Health Foundation’s Lifeline Medical Alert Service.  The grant is used to provide the Medical Alert Service to 8 seniors, who can “push a button” for help.  Our grant funds one-third of the cost of the annual service, with the Palomar Health Foundation providing one-third, and the subscriber paying one-third.

Joe Giamanco presented Linda Millimaki of Operation America Cares with a Community Grant check. The organization sends approximately 150 care packages a month to deployed troops. Our grant will help pay for the boxes and postage, which cost the group $16.75 for each box. The entire Operation America Cares operation is run from home, with a small storage facility used locally for storing donated and purchased items waiting to be packed.  The boxes are packed with things you wouldn't imagine our troops need - but they do! A Community Grant of $2500.00 was given to Elizabeth Hospice’s Jan Jones in support of Camp Erin. This annual camp is a free bereavement camp is for children and teens, ages 6 to 17, who have experienced the death of someone close to them. At Camp Erin, kids honor and memorialize their loved one, meet friends who are facing similar circumstances, build coping skills, and have fun.
