Living With Principles

As we are now in the first month of the new year it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our many blessings both individually and collectively as a country and a club. Despite the strong emotions over our presidential election and all the rhetoric surrounding it, we are still fortunate to live in a country that allows us to express ourselves even when those expressions may be opinions other than our own. In the spirit of Rotary and the 4 way test our challenge as a country is to express those opinions without hate and violence. If only the 4 way test could be lived out by all we may actually see peace in our world. I am thankful for Rotary and the many thousands of people across our country and our world who live by these principles. It is such an honor to be part of this organization and especially, our club.

Having had the good fortune to have been in 3 different clubs, the first in Miami, the second in Nashville and now here each one has its own personality – I am so enjoying our club’s personality – the good humor and opportunity to belly laugh each meeting is priceless. And who could ever not enjoy the HOWDY song?! Neither of my other two clubs would ever sing – they surely did miss out! The number and type of good works that our club does are absolutely phenomenal! So as I reflect on my personal blessings I include my country, my Rotary involvement and especially my club, my work which I am called to do, and my friends and family. Hopefully, you will take some time for your own personal reflections. There is no doubt in my mind that 2017 will be a spectacular year!
