Escondido Rotary Club Honors The Class of 2017

At one of the truly special meetings of our Rotary year, we again honor graduating high school Seniors with scholarships and vocational recognition. On May 16th, the club awarded scholarships to members of the class of 2017 from five local high schools: Escondido Charter; San Pasqual Academy; Escondido High; Orange Glen High; and San Pasqual High. Vocational Awards were announced for students from San Pasqual High School and Escondido High School. Each of these young men and women have distinguished themselves as outstanding scholars and distinguished citizens in our community. We honor and support their achievements, and wish them well as they pursue their life goals.

There are so many people who make this occasion possible. We would not have the funds to support our youth awards programs if it were not for all the Rotarians who have contributed to the Escondido Rotary Foundation, and the support for our annual fundraising event, Coeur de Cuisine. All of you have made it possible to award $28,000 this year to more than 45 high school seniors.

A special thanks goes out to our Rotarians who devoted many hours reading applications and interviewing over 70 students. Beyond the Rotary Club of Escondido, there are many others who have supported ur scholarship awards program. The counselors at the participating high schools, who advertised our Rotary Scholarships, collected the applications and arranged the interviews. We sincerely apprciate all you have done to assist our club in the selection of our scholarship winners. This is a busy time of the year for school personnel, especially counselors, and we would like to recognize you for your dedicated work with our young people.

Kudos also go to their parents, and most importantly, to the young men and women who have earned our recognition.
